Mayor Billy Barlow announced today another free concert will take place in Oswego as the summer season ends, following a recent announcement the Syracuse Highland Pipe Band will perform in Breitbeck Park on August 30th.

This time, FLAME THE BAND, will perform on Veteran’s Stage on Friday, September 15th from 6:00-8:00pm.

Flame is a high-energy American Cover band that performs globally playing all your favorites, from the classics through today’s hits, including some originals. Formed in 2003, they gained popularity from their appearances on Good Morning America and in People Magazine. Flame consists of talented members who happen to have disabilities. The musicians of Flame have disabilities including autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, blindness, and paralysis, but that doesn’t hold them back. Most recently their toured Cambodia for an international cultural exchange invited by the US Embassy in Cambodia.

“We are thrilled to bring FLAME THE BAND to Oswego to perform a highly anticipated concert. FLAME travels all over bringing their talents and music, while inspiring people with disabilities and encouraging an inclusive environment,” said Mayor Billy Barlow. “I anticipate Oswego will give FLAME a warm welcome and attend yet another free and enjoyable event along Oswego’s riverfront,” Barlow said.

Flame’s mission is to change the world through music. They inspire people with disabilities and give hope to them and their families – hope that they can do great things and live a fun and fulfilling life. Flame’s performances help change how the public perceives people with disabilities and increase the awareness and acceptance of all people, regardless of their differences.

Maria Nestle, manager of FLAME THE BAND, thanked Mayor Barlow for the opportunity to perform in Oswego and said, “they were wonderful representatives for the U.S., for Lexington and certainly for themselves as very talented musicians in Cambodia and at every performance,” Nestle said. “They truly are changing the world’s perception of people with disabilities around the world.”

Flame has a busy schedule and performs more than 70 times per year, touring the greater Northeast area and beyond in a custom bus. Flame gives concerts at national and statewide conventions, corporate conferences, civic events, schools, dances, and private parties. Their repertoire includes more than 100 classic rock, pop, country, and blues songs from the past 50 years, as well as some original tracks. In 20 years of work, they have produced six albums and two singles.
