Midway Drive-In owner John Nagelschmidt addressed the status of the local favorite movie hot spot after a terrible storm destroyed the screen on July 8.
“I've been up all night trying to restore the electricity to the freezers,” Nagelschmidt said.
The historic drive-in was completely destroyed July 8 during the rain and wind storm that swept through most of Central New York. The storm left many without power and Syracuse is still under a state of emergency. Nagelschmidt said he is a little overwhelmed with the events of last night and asked iHeart to keep people informed of what happens in reference to the state of the drive-in and any fundraising efforts.
“We will be reporting directly to Nagelschmidt," Victoria Usherwood Gailinas, founder of iHeart Oswego and the iHeart Corp, said. "We have agreed to provide him with all information about any fundraising efforts and be his voice until he is ready to speak on this. The response has been overwhelming and the community is insisting on helping the Midway Drive-In in every way possible and we do too.”
IHeart will be following up closely with Nagelschmidt and will make information available to the community as soon as it becomes available.
