A single vehicle accident sent one driver to the hospital today, and left a portion of State Route 48 closed. The collision occurred around 2pm as the vehicle left the East side of the road and struck a utility pole, shearing the pole near the ground and leaving low hanging power lines.
The injured driver was treated at the scene and transported to Oswego Hospital, according to OFD Deputy Chief Mark McManus. No other injuries were reported.
A section of State Route 48 between Munn Street and O'Brien Glenway remains closed to allow National Grid to make repairs to the electrical service.
Oswego Fire Department crews were asssited at the scene by the Oswego Police Department and National Grid. The Minetto Fire Department assisted with traffic control on State Route 48 in their district, near O'Brien Glenway.
