Oswego County New Horizons Chorus will present "Songs Across America: A Musical Travelogue Concert" at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, at the Minetto United Methodist Church.
The concert will include such familiar tunes as "New York, New York"; "I Left My Heart in San Francisco"; "Oklahoma"; and "This Land is Your Land." The chorus is under the direction of Mary Lou Carpenter-Bjorkman and is accompanied by Sue Maxwell.
A new musical group will be making its debut during the concert. The Stylists is a group of women who sing in barbershop harmony. They are under the direction of Dan Williams and will be singing, "I Don't Know Why," "Bye Bye Blues," and "You're a Grand Old Flag."
There is no admission charge for the concert but a free will offering will be invited to help with several maintenance projects at the church and parsonage. After the concert, the public is invited to view the maintenance work that has been done in the building as they make their way to the Fellowship Hall where refreshments will be served.
A collection shed has recently been placed in the parking lot at the back of the church for usable clothing items that can be recycled. Acceptable items include: all clothing, shoes, sneakers, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, drapes and stuffed toys.
The church is located at the intersection of state Route 48 and county Route 8 in the village of Minetto. The building is fully handicapped accessible. For more information, call 315-343-3465 or visit their website at http://www.MinettoUMC.org/.
