Need a last minute adventure for the kids before school starts? Need to take a day and destress?

New York State is offering another free day of fishing this Saturday, August 31, 2024.

You can fish in any freshwater in New York this Saturday without a license this weekend. With a fishing license fees being waived, now is a good time to sit and relax, pole in water, to try the sport out. Some tips can be found here https://dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/freshwater-fishing/learn-to-fish ,if you need them. So get your pole, bait, chair, maybe a cooler with some drinks and snacks, too. Make a day of it by the river, at the creek, on a pond, or at the shores of Lake Ontario. Get out and enjoy a day in the sun with nature all around you.

Even though you do not need a license to fish on Saturday, all other rules and regulations need to be followed. Don't be intimidated, the regulations are fairly easy to follow. The regulations for New York State can be found at https://dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/freshwater-fishing/regulations

iHeartoswego would love to see your pics by the shore with or without a fish on hook. Just send them to community@iHeartoswego.com.

Other free fishing days are coming-September 28 and November 11. Mark them on your calendar and may be we will see you out there.
