The New York State Canal System (NYSCS) will open for the season, Wednesday, May 1.
The Oswego Canal is the third longest canal section in the NYSCS. Beginning at Three River Junction, the Oswego Canal runs north following the Oswego River to Oswego and finally Lake Ontario. The NYSCS will remain open through November 15.
The New York State Canal System's announced its daily operating hours have changed for the 2013 navigation season.
Here are the 2013 hours of operation issued by the New York Canal Authority:
May 1-22: 7 a.m to 5 p.m., daily
May 23-Sept. 11: 8 a.m. through 6 p.m., daily
Sept. 12-Nov. 15: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily
The following locks will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. from May 23 to Sept.11:
Lock E-7, Niskayuna
Lock E-23, Brewerton
Lock E-24, Baldwinsville
Lock CS-2/3, Seneca Falls
Lock CS-4, Waterloo

Mariners are advised that tolls for use of Canal System will continue.
All boats passing through any lock or lift bridge on the Canal System must purchase a Two-Day, Ten-Day or Seasonal Pass.
