NYS Controller DeNapoli To Speak At March 14 Dinner

     The Oswego Democratic Committees (both City and County) announce the first annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Celebration on March 14, 2014 at Birdie Manor beginning at 6:30PM.

     The dinner is named after United States Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. Thomas Jefferson is credited for forming the modern Democratic Party and Andrew Jackson was the first Democratic Party President, serving from 1829 to 1837. There have been 15 Democratic Presidents, the most recent is the current president, Barack Obama, who has served since 2009.

     The celebration will feature NYS Controller, Thomas DiNapoli as a guest speaker and the introduction and launch of the "Grow Oswego" Campaign. Guests will dine on a menu of Roast Beef, Roast Chicken, Seafood Newburg, Italian Roast Potatoes, Chef Salad, Pasta with Sauce, Bread and Butter, Coffee and Tea; ticket price $25.00 along with a cash bar. Cocktails begin at 6:30PM, Dinner at 7PM and NYS Controller Comments at 7:30PM. Tickets can be purchased from any of the Committee Members or reserved by calling 315-439-2040.

     Thomas P. DiNapoli is the 54th Comptroller of the State of New York who's known for his integrity, independence and steadfast leadership.

     Since taking office in 2007, Tom DiNapoli has aggressively fought misuse of public resources, strengthened one of the nation's top public pension funds, and consistently spoken out against fiscal gimmicks, imprudent actions and government inefficiency.

     The New York State Comptroller manages the state's $160.7 billion pension fund, audits the spending practices of all state agencies and local governments, oversees the New York State and Local Retirement System, critically reviews the New York State and City budgets, and approves billions in state contracts and spending.

     Prior to his election to the Assembly, he was a manager in the telecommunications industry. He holds a master's degree from The New School University's Graduate School of Management and Urban Professions. A lifelong resident of Nassau County, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in history magna cum laude from Hofstra University in Hempstead
