     Plans are under way for one of the area's premier fundraising events, the Oswego Christian Community School's (OCCS) Sixth Annual Auction.

     Scheduled for Saturday, April 20, the auction will be held from 1-4 p.m. at Oswego Elks Lodge #271, corner of West Fifth and Bridge streets, in Oswego. The event, which serves as the school's largest fundraiser, will feature a Silent Auction and a Live Auction, as well as a bake sale and the Elks famous Chicken B-B-Q.

     According to planning committee chairperson, Sue Bakos, this year's auction promises to be better than ever.
     "Over the years, our annual auction has received some wonderful support from the community, making the event more and more popular each year,"she said. "We are excited about this year's event at its new location and are looking forward to an afternoon of fun."

     Bakos added that the committee has been busy contacting area business and gathering items for the auctions.
     "We are fortunate to have received a number of excellent items already from caring businesses and individuals," Bakos said. "We anticipate having a wide array of items for our auctions and are gladly accepting donations from anyone interested in supporting our auction fundraiser."

     Some of the many items that will be up available to bid on include tickets to Wonderworks at Destiny USA; gift cards to area retailers and restaurants; tickets to area attractions and events; gift certificates for spa treatments, hotel getaways, automotive services; jewelry and beauty products to name a few.
     Additionally, Oswego Community Christian School students will also be participating, as each class is busy preparing themed baskets filled with an assortment of goodies pertaining to its theme. Bakos said that there would be approximately $25,000 worth of new merchandise and services to bid on.
     "Our school's Facebook page features photos of many of the items that will be up for bid with new photos added as items come in," Bakos said. "The photo album may also be accessed via the link on the school's website, www.myoccs.org."
     The Silent Auction will take place from 1– 2:30 p.m., with tables closing in sections beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a Live Auction from 2:30 – 4 p.m. featuring auctioneer Corrina Pauldine of the newly opened McEwen Auction Company. Located at 32 Erie Street in Oswego, McEwen Auction Company offers weekly consignment auctions as well as specialty auctions.
     "I am very excited to provide auction services for this event," Pauldine said. "It's an opportunity to give back to my community, which the Oswego Community Christian School is an important part of. I am happy to be able to support them.      Bakos added that the event would also include the popular Oswego Community Christian School's annual prize drawing. For a donation of $10, individuals will have the opportunity to win one of three great prizes including a Grand Prize of either a five-night Disney World vacation for a family of four or a $1,500 VISA gift card, winner's choice; a second prize of an Apple iPad mini; and a third prize of either a $250 gas or grocery card, winner's choice.
     A limited number of tickets will available these prize drawings.
Tickets for the prizing drawing, as well as pre-sale tickets for the Chicken B-B-Q for $8, are available at the school office, 400 E. Albany St. in Oswego.
