Oswego Fire Department personnel responded to 158 West Seneca Street at 10:39am today to a reported vehicle fire in close proximity to structures. According to witnesses on the scene, a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the garage, raised the door, and found the vehicle with smoke coming from under the hood. The neighbor then rolled the vehicle out of the garage and awaited fire crews.
OFD personnel arrived on the scene, and found the vehicle fully involved in fire. Personnel pulled hoselines to douse the vehicle, while checking on the exposures. While the vehicle was a total loss, the garage sustained only minor smoke and heat damage, the rear of the house received heat damage, and the house next door and a fence was damaged as well.
No injuries were reported, and all personnel were back in service after about 45 minutes.
Thank you to the neighbor for helping out, and to the Oswego Police Department for assisting at the scene with traffic control.
