The OHS Drama Club production “Irena’s Vow” will be held on Nov. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Robinson-Faust Theater for the Performing Arts.
Set during the Holocaust, 19-year-old Irena Gut is promoted to housekeeper in the home of a highly respected Nazi officer when she finds out that the Jewish ghetto is about to be liquidated. Determined to help 12 Jewish workers, she decides to shelter them in the safest place she can think of: the basement of the German commandant’s house.
Over the next two years, Gut uses her wit, humor, and courage to hide her friends, concealing them in the midst of many unique situations. This non-fiction story is one of the most inspiring of our time.
The cast includes Natalie Griffin (Irena), Ryan Smith (Major Rugemer), Nolan Callahan (Schultz), Erik Neacosia (Lazar Haller), Megan Shafer (Ida Haller), Rachel Leotta (Fanka Silberman), Kyle Roy (Tomas Bauer), Leah Mullen (Klara Bauer), Keelan McGreevy (Zosia Lifschitz), Doug Schneider (Rokita), Will Bandla (S.S. Officer et. al.), and Gabriela Castiglia (Helen).
Tickets are $10 each and will be available at the door. For more information contact director Robert Dumas at 341-2270.
