The Oswego Buccaneers kicked off their 2012-2013 season with a 100-77 win Monday night against Weedsport.
The Bucs were able to take first in 11 of the 12 events to secure their victory.
Juniors Alex Kemper and Leo Gorton were part of two winning relay teams, while senior Jeremy Galvin helped the Medley Relay place first, and another senior, Jimmy Dillon, was an integral part of Oswego's first place 200 freestyle relay team.
Dillon was a double winner, placing first by nearly ten seconds in the 200 freestyle (2:02.12) and by more than twenty seconds in the 500 freestyle (5:34.04). Kemper was also a double winner, getting to the wall first in both the sprint freestyle events. His times of 22.94 in the 50 freestyle and 53.51 in the 100 freestyle place him in the second and fourth, respectively, in the Section so far this season. Oswego's third double winner on the night was sophomore Dylan Harrington. Harrington ran away with the 200 I.M., placing first in 2:22.86, and won a hard-fought battle in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.26).
The Buccaneer upperclassmen continued to impress Monday night. Senior Jeremy Galvin took first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.14. Juniors Leo Gorton and Alex Carl also added another win each. Gorton swam an impressive 1:00.18 in the 100 butterfly while Carl wowed the crowd in the diving event, putting up his best score ever (197.78).
The Buccaneers are off to a strong start this season and will now look ahead to Dec. 21 when they will host a strong Liverpool team in their second meet of the season.
