The Oswego Renaissance Association (ORA) announces the availability of round two of the “Neighborhood Pride Grants” to be eligible to residents of the city of Oswego due Jan. 15, 2015.
Pride grants require 5, or more, neighbors to collaborate on projects that improve their neighborhoods. Projects are numerous, and can include park/playground improvements, flowerboxes for multiple houses on a street, trees along the street, landscaping for multiple houses, picket fences, recovering lost green space, flowerbeds and gardens along curbsides, or even beautifying a large building that has a disproportionate effect on the neighborhood.
In addition, Pride Grants fund community events such as block parties, park events and more. Residents can also come up with their own ideas.
Pride Grants are different than the Renaissance Block Challenge grants seen this past summer, where homeowners were given matching grants for home improvements. Announcements for the 2015 Block Challenge Grants program will be made next month.
The maximum allowable Pride Grant for any single neighborhood street is $3,000, and common requests would be in the $500-$1,500 range. Requests for park/playground improvements or large buildings may be higher. Residents are encouraged contact the ORA in advance of any application.
