Last year, as part of the Oswego Renaissance Association’s Neighborhood Pride Projects, nearly 80 trees were planted mainly along the West Bridge Street corridor in an attempt to begin the restoration of the long lost West Bridge Street Tree Canopy. Funded by Novelis Oswego and partnering with the City of Oswego and the Oswego Tree Stewards, the ORA coordinated a project that brought together Novelis employees, city employees and both city resident volunteers and SUNY Oswego student volunteers.
Nearly 80 trees were planted. One year later, all but two are surviving and growing stronger and taller very day. To celebrate the success of this project, the partners got together to acknowledge the teamwork shared and to begin planning the next Novelis and ORA partnership.
The ORA is a privately funded not-for-profit association comprised of citizen volunteers whose focus is a middle market approach to neighborhood revitalization. For more information visit the ORA website www.oswegonyonline.com.
