The Children`s Museum of Oswego (CMOO) has successfully completed its initial funding campaign, the First 40. The Campaign was designed to reach a goal of $40,000 through the generous gift of $1,000 from 40 individuals, businesses and foundations in and around the Oswego County area.

Money generated from The First 40 was targeted to fund a feasibility study, exhibit development, marketing, capital campaign development, and most importantly, community outreach. "Members" of the First 40 were given a once in a lifetime opportunity to set themselves apart from others through lifetime recognition within the Museum. Once the Museum is open, there will be an interactive exhibit devoted to First 40 Members that celebrates, in a tangible way, their active role in enrichment of our commonwealth and generous support of The Children's Museum of Oswego.

The success of this initial campaign speaks volumes for the Museum's ability to establish a critical foundation of financial supporters. It was CMOO's ambition to pursue donors who believe strongly in the mission and vision of the Museum. This relatively short campaign was executed in a unique and strategic way so the donors reflect a diverse cross section of the community; including, local physicians, contractors, small business owners, educators, local families, educational institutions, financial entities, and charitable foundations.

CMOO appreciates the outpouring of support that was shown throughout the campaign, and recently recognized First 40 Members by hosting a reception in their honor. Members were presented with a distinctive plaque, designed and hand crafted by CMOO's President of the board of trustees, Jonathan Shaver, in the shape of a puzzle piece to represent their personal contribution as an integral part of CMOO's collaborative endeavors. Shaver shares, "Our First 40 Members have shown their belief in our mission and have faith in our organization to execute that mission. They pledged their support and seized the opportunity to be a part of a significant cultural change in our community. The First 40 Members are all part of the initial foundation of what will become a cornerstone in the city and county of Oswego." It is CMOO's hope that every First 40 Member feels connected to the future growth and development of the organization.

First 40 members include: Jonathan and Jillian Shaver, Jeffrey Coderre, Anthony Pauldine, Bill Symons, Richard S. Shineman Foundation, Mary Plummer, Donald P. Cram, Dr. Lori Youngman and Dr. David Dexter, SUNY Oswego, Kathryn Shaver, J&S Promotions, John & Tara Fitzgibbons, Jenny & James Workman, Nelson Law Firm, Integrative Counseling Services, The Rode Family, NBT Bank, Emily and Joshua Chase, Warner Physical Therapy, Fulton Lions Club, Jeanne and Michael Brown, Natalie Sturr, The Woodruff Block, The Stepien Family/Step One Creative, Jackie and Fred Sheffield, Oswego County Autism Task Force, Shane and Elisa Broadwell, Wayne Drug, Dr. Vilma Junio, Operation Oswego County, Inc., Dunkin Donuts, The Caraccioli Family, Compass Credit Union, Traci and Brian Christ, Dr. Anthony Licatese & Family, Anonymous, Thomas & Rosemary Altman, The Emmons Family/Mother Earth Baby, Greg Mills, Ed and Rachel Fayette & Family.
