The Oswego Community Youth Orchestra (OCYO) is pleased to announce their Fall Concerts:
Thursday, November 16, 2017, 7:00PM at G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton, NY and Sunday, November 19, 2017, 7:00PM at Sheldon Ballroom, SUNY Oswego, Oswego, NY. Tickets are available at the door for a minimal fee. With Special Guest: SUNY Oswego Community Orchestra.
The program consists of exciting selections including:
Theme from “Game of Thrones” -- Djawadi/Moore
L’Estro Armonico -- Vivaldi/Bach/Lipton
Andante Cantabile, from Petite Symphonie -- Gounod/Moreno
City of Stars, from La La Lan -- Hurwitz/Kazik
Allegro Molto, from Gran Partita, K. 361 -- Mozart/Wagner
The Oswego Community Youth Orchestra seeks to challenge and nurture young area musicians to strive for excellence, to explore their role in humanity, and to contribute beauty to the community, through the study and performance of orchestral music.
OCYO is conducted by Juan Francisco La Manna is orchestra director at the State University of New York at Oswego, Artistic Director and conductor of Oswego Opera, and conductor of the Oswego Youth Orchestra. Prior to his appointment at SUNY, Dr. La Manna was conductor for the State Ballet of Missouri, where he directed the St. Louis and Kansas City Symphonies; he was also music director of the Northland Symphony and the Lawrence Chamber Orchestra.
The Oswego Community Youth Orchestra thanks the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau for their support and local area businesses. Special thanks to the Fulton Board of Education and the Music Department at SUNY Oswego for letting us perform in their beautiful halls, and to the string teachers of the Oswego and Fulton School districts.
