Oswego County Tourism announces the release of the latest edition of its Visitor Guide.

Featuring new sections, a new cover and updated information, the 80-page guide highlights Oswego County’s great outdoors, family-friendly attractions and various tourism resources.

“Oswego County’s abundance of natural resources, rich history, and fun events and attractions makes it a travel destination with something for everyone,” said Daniel Breitweg, deputy director of Oswego County Tourism. “We’re thrilled to release our updated guide, which puts our four seasons of fun on display for residents and visitors alike.”

A newly added section of the guide highlights the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary (LONMS). Designated by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in June 2024, it is the 16th national marine sanctuary in the program and the third in the Great Lakes. The LONMS offers many opportunities to enhance recreation, education, research and tourism.

In addition, the Underground Railroad section has been expanded to highlight Oswego County’s Black history and residents’ participation in the abolition movement over 150 years ago. The list of Underground Railroad sites has been updated to reflect sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and indicate which sites are open for the public to visit.

The guide also features new photos displaying Oswego County’s year-round attractions, including a new photo spread showing family-friendly fall experiences.

As usual, the Visitor Guide includes a detailed overview of various attractions, popular events, historical sites and museums, fishing, snowmobiling, racing, arts and culture, beaches, campsites and more. Readers can discover thousands of acres of natural resources, learn about scenic canal communities and find their next exciting adventure in its pages.

The guide is available in print or online on the Oswego County Tourism website at https://visitoswegocounty.com/.

Approximately 100,000 copies of the guide will be distributed at outdoor recreation and travel shows, tourism information centers, marinas, campgrounds and other local businesses and attractions throughout New York and surrounding states. Targeted areas include the Capital Region, Finger Lakes and Southern Tier, along with areas across Pennsylvania, Connecticut and western Massachusetts.

Along with the Visitor Guide, readers can also pick up the Oswego County Fishing and Hunting Guide. This guide highlights the vast fishing opportunities on eastern Lake Ontario, Oneida Lake, the Oswego and Salmon rivers and a variety of other tributaries as well as the more than 40,000 acres of public lands available for hunting.
