The team registration deadline for the Oswego Dragon Boat Festival has been extended to July 8.
Businesses, friends, and family are encouraged to register a team to experience all the fierce fun of the Oswego Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 9am-4pm in Oswego’s waterfront Breitbeck Park. The day will be filled with live music featuring the band Off the Reservation, Dragon Boat racing, the colorful team tent city, Heroes Challenge race, games, food and more.
Team registration fees includes a boat for 16-20, plus a drummer and includes one practice day before the event, plus entry into Saturday’s festival fun. To register a team, you must call the Oswego YMCA at 315-342-6082 by July 8 to secure a boat
Spectators will be able to watch the authentic 40’ Hong-Kong style dragon boats as they race in the Oswego Harbor channel behind the park. Evening Practice sessions will begin on Wednesday, August 3rd and continue through Friday, August 5th. A midday special highlight of the festival includes the Heroes Challenge, a race between area emergency service providers such as area police and more. Racing continues throughout the day on Saturday, August 6th and will include games, food, and live music starting at 1pm with the band Off The Reservation, made possible with support from Mayor William J. Barlow, Jr., and the City of Oswego. In addition to Dragonboat activities, the City of Oswego will also be hosting Family Fun Days throughout the park from 12pm to 6pm for families to enjoy more fun options during the festival.
The Oswego Dragon Boat Festival is a free summer happening for spectators that highlights Oswego’s beautiful Bretibeck park area and waterway. Proceeds from this event provide financial support of Oswego YMCA programs that directly impact the children, families, and seniors in the Oswego community.
