Come to the Lake Ontario Waterfront Festival on West First Street Pier, Saturday, May 17 to observe OFD’s mock in-water rescues, weather permitting.
The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. and admission is free. In 2025, OFD marks its 149th year of service in Oswego, one of the first cities of its size to have a career fire department. The OFD exhibit will have additional fire and water safety information. The festival is held in conjunction with National Safe Boating Week, which runs from May 17-23. The event also features exhibits and demonstrations from the U.S. Coast Guard Station Oswego, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 2-6, New York Sea Grant and Great Lakes science and environmental conservation groups. Family entertainment is provided by The Happy Pirates and live raptors from the Braddock Bay Raptor Research program. For more information, contact the H.
