iHeart Oswego had a sneak peek at a dress rehearsal of Oswego Homeschool Association’s (OHA’s) production of Mary Poppins Jr. earlier this week.
The show brings the magic of Mary Poppins to life with catchy tunes that uplift and captivate, and you’ll find yourself humming along even after the curtain closes. The cast uses dance to good use as well, with a tap-dancing number that practically jumps off of the stage and showcases the boisterousness of the chimney sweeps. This particular production includes new songs and additional music and lyrics from George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
For those who are less familiar with Mary Poppins Jr., the action stems around the Banks family’s attempts to find a nanny for their two children, Jane and Michael. As part of the action, Mary Poppins questions what the family needs more: to benefit from her help or to learn to do things on their own. Through this plot, the play explores themes like the importance—and risks—inherent in supporting good people and in being there for family, even in difficult times… and the timeless specter of possibly losing your job.
Choosing to do the right thing always pays off in the end, however, and the production will leave you feeling empowered and delighted.
So, take “a jolly holiday with Mary” and make plans to see this lovely play, taking place at the Fulton Alliance Church, starting tonight at 7pm!
