The Oswego Opera Theater will hold its annual Chicken Barbecue on Sunday, September 24.
Meals may be obtained in two places – at the American Foundry at 246 West Seneca Street starting at noon, or at 77 West Fifth Street starting at 1:00 during Porchfest, while enjoying free musical and other performances in Oswego’s Historic Westside. The menu will consist of a choice of barbecue chicken or pulled pork, salt potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, roll and butter, and dessert. Tickets will be $10.
There is also a “Lottery Tree” Raffle with $500 worth of lottery scratch offs. Only 200 raffle tickets will be sold. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25. The drawing will be held at the Barbecue on September 24.
Tickets for both the Barbecue and the Raffle are available in advance at Wayne Drugs and the river’s end bookstore, or from Board Members, or they may be purchased at the door of either of the two sites on the day of the event until sold out.
The Barbecue is an annual fundraiser for Oswego Opera Theater, which has been presenting operas and other quality musical offerings in Oswego for nearly forty years. Proceeds from the Barbecue and Raffle will help fund the forthcoming production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta, The Mikado, directed by Juan F. LaManna, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12 in Waterman Theater, Tyler Hall on the SUNY Oswego Campus.
