Oswego Photo Exhibit Opens at Public Library

Images of Oswego is the latest exhibit in our downstairs art gallery. Tim Ames, whose works have won over 60 awards in state shows, is sharing his local work. These beautiful paintings evoke our city in all seasons and will be here until the end of the month. Watch for historic Oswego photos in February.

Ames says: "As a landscape painter and native of Oswego, I am drawn to the scenery that surrounds us and have specialized in showcasing the picturesque charm of the region. My Representational style could be defined as a combination of Realism and Impressionism and, although I do use oils, my medium of choice is acrylics. I didn't begin painting until I was well into my 50's and although I have had no formal training, to say that I am "self" taught is a bit of a stretch. Over the years, I have accumulated a veritable library of books and lessons by many of the best artists and instructors available. Since my retirement, I have devoted most of my free time to painting and the establishment of a visual arts presence in Oswego. I am the co-founder and serve as President/Business Manager of Lakeside Artisans, an Artist Coop, which opened in downtown Oswego in March of 2011, providing a much needed venue for local artists and artisans to display and sell their work."

The Oswego Public Library is open 10-4 on Martin Luther King Day for the Friends of the Library's mini golf event, bake sale, and book sale; but closed for computer use and regular library business. We are open 10-8 Monday through Thursday regularly and close of 5 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
