Oswego Pop Warner Cheer Advances to Regional Cheer Competition

The 2019 Oswego Pop Warner Junior Peewee Cheerleaders (ages 8 through 11), along with their sister team the Tiny Mite Cheerleaders competed against teams from all over Central New York in the CNY Local Cheer Competition at the SRC Arena on the OCC Campus.

The Junior Peewee Cheerleaders scored well enough to advance to the Regional Competition coming up on November 9th in Trenton, New Jersey.

The cheerleaders and their families will be fundraising throughout Oswego this weekend to help cover their expenses for this amazing opportunity which will be the first regional competition for all these girls.

The cheerleaders will be collecting donations at Wal-Mart Friday night, 11/1 from 5:30 until 7:30, at Stewart's on East Bridge St. Saturday morning 11/2 from 9:00 until noon and Sunday 11/3 again at Wal-Mart from 9:00 until 3.

They will also be distributing information about an open practice on Tuesday, November 5th that will help to recruit any kids ages 5 through 15 that want to join a year-round, competition cheer program,

Oswego Pop Warner supports approximately 100 local youth from high poverty level schools in a year-round program to teach teambuilding, self-esteem, fitness and health as well as comradery. This program provides participants with the physical, social and emotional support, while learning leadership, responsibility, perseverance and teamwork.
