Oswego Rotary had the pleasure of hosting students from Oswego High School and their coaches who are preparing for the VEX Robotics Championship in California this spring. Pictured are: Adam Humphrey, Lydia Tryon, Evan James, Jordan Tryon, Michael Beckwith, Jordan Runner, coach Dan Tryon and absent from the team photo are: Jeremy Braiman and coach Mark Humphrey. They represent team Freezing Code #9282. The students have designed and built a robot that has earned them a place in the VEX Toss Up World Championship being held later this month in Anaheim CA. The teams mission was to develop, build and program a robot that would pick up balls, toss the balls and hang from a bar - no small feat but Freezing Code managed to do just that with this group of high schoolers representing grades 7-12 at OHS. During this winter and spring the team has competed in multiple matches ultimately winning the State Championship and sending them to California. The team has been fundraising for their trip to California by selling pizzas, bumper stickers and seeking support from local companies, area residents and their parents. Lydia Tryon and Jordan Tryon are the grandchildren of Oswego Rotary member Vernon Tryon and their coach Dan Tryon is Vern's son. Good luck Freezing Code #9282 !
