Community partners are coming together Saturday, Sept. 13 to join ARISE in offering a fun new event to support ARISE services for people who have disabilities.
ZINK shirts is a sponsor for the first Light Up the Night 5k Run/Walk that starts at West Side Park at 7 p.m. ZINK shirts will be designing the logo for the event and creating a shirt with glow-in-the-dark attributes.
Light Up the Night is a very different event, offering both a traditional 5k Run/Walk but with a creative twist. It will be inclusive for anyone who wants to join in the fun, including wheelchairs and scooters.
The more unconventional run/walk invites participants to wear some form of lighting (glow-in-the-dark items, battery pack lighting or other), along with costumes if they choose. Come as a gorilla, clown, zombie or other fun attire.
The event begins at dusk with a couple of party dances and the run/walk begins as evening turns into night.
At the 2.5k mark, it will stop and more dancing will take place before the second half of the course is completed, followed by a final dance.
There will also be a more conventional 5k Run for those wishing to complete it in that way. This truly is an event for everyone in the family.
Preregistration may be done at http://www.ezracereg.com. Route details will be announced shortly.
All proceeds will benefit ARISE services for people of all ages with all types of disabilities. For further information, sponsorship and or volunteering, call 342-4088 ext. 206.
