Birthdays are special at Pau’s General Store and none more than their own.
The small retail gift shop, located at 47 S. 1st St. in Downtown Fulton, will celebrate their first birthday, first anniversary on Saturday, November 20th. The specialty gift shop is the effort of two sisters, Rebecca Fox and Elizabeth Blake.
The shop has celebrated birthdays and special days all year long as a theme for the artisan gift shop. With a collection of gifts to celebrate every occasion and original one of a kind handmade art, shoppers have a wide selection of items to help them celebrate the special occasions, including free gift wrapping!
“We wanted to send a clear message of celebration,” owner Rebecca Fox explained. “We need to celebrate even the small things in life and there is something to celebrate every day, something special happens every day if we look for it.
“We’re excited to celebrate this first milestone in the midst of continued uncertainty and changing shopping habits. Our shop offers unusual items including the unique artistry of my sister Beth. We complement each other in our styles and approaches. She is the artist; I am the shopper; together we invite shoppers into a world of creativity and a unique shopping experience.”
In the first year, the small shop has also promoted the work of several local artists including Leslie Paice and her stained glass artistry. Russell Keene’s art includes handmade wooden items and One Hope Macramé art uses proceeds in the fight against human trafficking.
“We’ve carried the celebration theme a step further by using our windows to say Happy Birthday to folks who want to add their name during their birth month. We love partnering with the community to celebrate birthdays by featuring their name on our birthday window.
“Our painted windows are a reason to celebrate,” Fox continued, “and gives neighbors something new to see on the landscape of downtown. The hand painted details Beth pours into each window are a visual treat for traffic flowing by the shop every day and she creates a different display every month.
“We hope folks will stop in and find ways to celebrate their special days, especially on Small Business Saturday, November 27th. We look forward to celebrating our own birthday through the holiday season with special deals.”
The shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 6pm, with an extended hour on Thursdays until 7pm. Weekend hours on Saturday are 10am-7pm and Sunday 11am-6pm. The shop is closed on Mondays. More information can be found at www.PausGeneralStore.com, and on Facebook, or call 315-887-1444.
