Pen Pal Project to connect seniors in community

This year's Leadership Oswego County class has decided to take their mission – to connect seniors in the community – one step farther. They have begun recruiting volunteers at various senior living facilities to participate in a pen pal project.

Each person who participates will fill out a questionnaire about themselves. Members of the class will pair up those who appear to have the same interests.
"If we can help others make a connection they may not have made otherwise, we consider that a success" Erin Nalle, member of the project, explained.
In the first week of May, the pen pal volunteers will receive their matches. In addition to the pen pal delivery, the class will be distributing special gifts. The delivery locations will include, Towpath Towers and Fulton Mill, in Fulton; Springbrook, in Pulaski, Simeon Dewitt and St. Luke Apartments, in Oswego; and Meadowview, in Central Square.
The leadership class began collecting donations in January. The final donation site will be the Central Square Walmart, from 12-2 p.m., Saturday April 27. Members of the class will be on site handing out a list of items still needed.
