Oswego port officials received an award last week citing their efforts at bringing in international tonnage through the St. Lawrence Seaway System.

During the joint meeting of the Great Lakes Ports in Oswego, Craig Middlebrook, acting administrator for the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, presented Port of Oswego Authority officials with the Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award.
The port was one of eight ports to receive the award, which is distributed to ports registering increases in international cargo shipped during the 2012 navigation season, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Jim Patka, interim executive director for the Port of Oswego Authority, said international tonnage at the port increased more than 4 percent in the 2012 season.
