The Pregnancy Care Center of Oswego County will be hosting a community event, Realtalk Parents’ Night: Getting Real About “The Talk”, on Tuesday, October 13th at 7 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center, SUNY Oswego.
Carmella Smith, Director of Prevention Programs at the PCC, will help parents navigate the challenging conversations about sexuality at every stage of development from toddlers to teenagers. Smith is a certified Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist and currently presents Realtalk, a sexual risk avoidance program, to students at the Oswego and Mexico middle schools. Other topics addressed during the seminar will include social media, internet safety, peer pressure, and pornography.
Participants will receive a free resource packet upon arrival and more educational resources will be available to purchase proceeding the seminar. Admission is free to the public, but space is limited. Parents are advised to call the PCC at 343-4866 or email: client.services@pccoswego.org to reserve seats.
