Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Rupert and Alice (Southgate) Cate and had attended schools in Oswego and Hamilton N.Y.
He worked at the Upstate Medical Hospital Computer Department and retired after 25 years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #692 in Deruyter NY.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Constance McHenry, and his brother, Richard Cate.
At Ronald's request, there will be no services or calling hours.
Arrangements are in the care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
