U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $387,000 in federal funding will be distributed to Home HeadQuarters Inc.

Locally, Home HeadQuarters serves as a community development organization and certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), dedicated to creating housing opportunities and providing access to affordable financial services for Central New Yorkers.

The funds are available through NeighborWorks America, a congressionally-chartered and funded non-profit organization with affiliates in every state, including Home HeadQuarters, Inc. in Syracuse. These funds will be used by Home HeadQuarters to develop and preserve affordable housing, revitalize neighborhoods, and create jobs in Central New York.

“I’m proud to announce nearly $400,000 in federal funds from NeighborWorks America will be distributed to Home HeadQuarters in Syracuse,” said Rep. Katko. “With this new award, Home HeadQuarters can continue its mission of rehabilitating properties in Syracuse and expanding opportunities for Central New Yorkers. I have been proud to advocate for robust funding for NeighborWorks America and I’m excited to see the profound effect this investment will have on our community.”

In Congress, Rep. Katko has been a strong supporter of NeighborWorks America and successfully advocated for robust federal funding for the program in Fiscal Year 2022. He also introduced the Neighborhood Reinvestment and Revitalization Act, a bipartisan bill that would create a $25 million grant program within NeighborWorks America to fund the rehabilitation of abandoned and distressed properties.
