Robert Frederick Baker, 85, a resident of Oswego Town, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at home.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Jesse and Emma (Sill) Baker.
Robert was an auto mechanic most of his life. He learned as a young boy from his uncle, Bill Sill.
He worked for Frank Shaw and Bud Thallmann and started his own business at home at 240 Murray St.. He retired in 1990 and moved into his beloved camp in Brantingham, NY.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, to which he taught his wife, sons and daughter.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josephine (Natoli) Baker; two sons, Robert (Lynda) Baker and William (Irene) Baker; one daughter, Bonnie (Russell) Keene; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Baker.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Baker; and great-grandson, Joseph McCarthy.
Services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at Nelson Funeral Home.
Calling hours are from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street, Oswego.
