Write a commentAs if breaking his own track wasn’t enough during Oswego Speedway’s CNY Chevy Dealers Qualifying Night on Friday, Russ Brown backed it up by drawing the pole position for Sunday’s Bud Light SBS Classic 75 in the six-driver redraw.
Brown ran 18.504 seconds in the Hedger Fabrication No. 13 to break his previous track record set in 2014.
Mike Bond, Dave Cliff, Camden Proud, Dalton Doyle, and Andrew Schartner were the six fastest qualifiers on Friday night, earning the right to redraw for their official starting positions in Sunday’s 75-lap Classic.
Brown would draw pole position with this year’s SBS track champion Cliff drawing the outside pole.
The 2015 SBS track champion Bond would draw the third position with Doyle joining him in row number two.
Proud redrew inside the third row in fifth with Schartner pulling pill No. 6 to start outside row three.
Joining those six as automatically locked in drivers from time trials were Alex Hoag, Anthony Losurdo, Mike Bruce, and Jack Patrick, who will start seventh through tenth in Sunday’s lineup.
All other drivers would have to run one of two Semi Finals on Friday with Jason Simmons and Jesse Bearup earning qualifier wins as Barry Kingsley, Matt Magner, Brad Haynes, Cameron Rowe, Kreig Heroth, Scott Shafer, Alex McRae, and Cameron Black all punched tickets to the SBS Classic 75 in Semi action.
Defending SBS Classic champion Bryan Haynes, James Babcock, Dennis Rupert, Greg O’Connor, Tyler Thompson, Josh Kerr, Jon Tesoriero, Rob Pullen, and Mark Castiglia will all have to contend in the SBS Classic consi on Sunday.
