Audiences at Charles E. Riley Elementary School were transported recently on a magical tour through the wonderful world of one of Children’s Literature’s towering figures with the premiere and run of 'Seussical: The Musical.'

Led by the iconic Cat in the Hat, the show tells the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos.

As Horton learns the value of friendship, loyalty, family and community, he crosses paths with dozens of recognizable character from the pantheon of Dr. Seuss’ immortal work.

“My heart is so full,” said Riley music teacher and Seussical director Ceara Windhausen. “Everyone worked so hard on this extremely difficult show but our students all rose to the occasion.”

One of the main themes in Seussical is a lesson Riley administrators and teachers said they try to teach their students every day: “A person’s a person no matter how small.”

“We want all our students to be practicing kindness and treating each other with respect every day,” said Riley Principal Dr. Linda Doty.
