     The Richard S.Shineman Foundation announced that it has pledged $250,000 to the Oswego YMCA capital campaign.      The Oswego YMCA is currently seeking funds with a goal of $3 million dollars to invest in the renovation and expansion of their facility. The new construction will connect the Y Armory with the Y pool, create one entrance for the YMCA facility, repair and restore the community pool and improve accessibility throughout the building.

     "The Shineman Foundation is excited to partner with the Oswego YMCA in this investment for our community," said Lauren A. Pistell, executive director of the Richard S. Shineman Foundation. "The Oswego YMCA has been a community center for generations, and they now have a strong and specific plan to expand and renovate their building for the future. The goal of this campaign is directly in line with our Foundation's mission to use our financial resources to build the capacity of not-for-profit organizations in Oswego County. We are confident that the Oswego YMCA will meet its campaign goals, and we can't wait to see the beautiful new facility."

     Deana Masuicca, executive director of the Oswego YMCA, said "The Oswego YMCA Board and staff are very thankful for the generosity of the Richard Shineman Foundation. This gift will help in our efforts to provide an accessible and modern addition for the community and future generations."
About the Richard S.Shineman Foundation
     The Richard S. Shineman Foundation is a private foundation established in 2012 by the bequest of Richard S. Shineman, a tenured professor of chemistry at SUNY Oswego. Its vision is to become a "Catalyst for Change" across Central New York and, in particular, Oswego County. The Foundation uses its financial resources to work towards this vision by building the capacity of not-for-profit organizations to enhance the quality of life in their communit ies. At this time, the Foundation is in its organizational stage, and will not be accepting additional grant applications until 2013.
