As the fall season is now in full swing, one of the most asked questions is, “What should I wear?”

Here in Central New York, we experience so many different temperatures and seasonal weather conditions, that at times can be hard to keep fashion, style and trends in mind when heading out to face Mother Nature’s daily conditions. 

Shopping locally is a great way to keep local businesses thriving. There are several shops in Oswego that not only carry trendy and fashionable clothes, but they are also at an affordable price. 

Sensibility Outfitters, in Canal Commons at 193 W. First St., is a local women’s consignment shop that offers a variety of high-end fashion pieces for all ages.

Owner Shellie Oatman and daughter, MacKenzie Oatman, decided to bring consignment shopping and affordable, high-fashion clothing to Oswego. As frequent travelers of the New York City area, the Oatmans were inspired by all of the unique consignment shops available to the New York City area. Throughout their travels, they decided that Oswego needed a shop that offers high-fashion pieces without a high-fashion price. As a lover of fashion, beauty, and women’s clothing from a young age, Shellie Oatman chose to channel her passion for style into a hometown business.

At Sensibility Outfitters you can find a wide range of women’s fashion pieces, including everything from jackets and jeans, to shoes and scarves, to purses and jewelry. As we progress into the fall season, an entirely new set of clothing and style options are available to women. Dressing for the colder weather is especially important, and at Sensibility Outfitters there is a beautiful variety of pieces to suit your chilly days here in Oswego. 

Oatman believes there are so many major go-to’s for women during this fall season. These trends include boot socks, boots, oversized sweaters, leggings, scarves, and skinny jeans. At Sensibility Outfitters, you can find a range of sizes and styles appropriate for all ages and sizes.

"We want you to feel good in your clothing no matter what size or what age you are,” Shellie Oatman said. 

Specializing in women’s retail, Sensibility Outfitters also takes part in community events throughout Oswego. This past March, Shellie Oatman and her team organized a fashion show at the American Foundry in Oswego. This event was put on to showcase Sensibility Outfitters’ selection of prom attire, and the event itself was very successful, drawing a large crowd of high school students. Also this past year, Shellie Oatman and her daughter had the opportunity to put together an entirely new work-wear wardrobe for a customer who was beginning a new job. 

“I want women to know that they can dress and feel good in high end clothing and not pay the high end price,” Shellie Oatman said.
