Write a commentThe Harvest is a magical time of year with all of the sights, sounds, and smells of the bounty that we are blessed to enjoy.
This Saturday will be a fun filled day to remember at Colloca Estate Winery, 2019 New York Riesling Winery of the Year.
This year’s Harvest Festival will host something a little different -- a good old fashioned "Stomp & Chomp". Guests can try their feet at grape stomping or enter our grape pie eating contest.
Kids and adults alike can try stomping grapes to extract their juice just as it was done in the old days. It is suggested that participants wear shorts or pants that can be rolled up. There will be a washing station available for clean-up. No pre-registration is necessary to stomp. Just show up at 5 pm and be ready to crush it.
Earlier in the day, you can try your hand at grape picking, take an Estate tour, taste our new releases, meet our winemaker and learn about the winemaking process, enjoy delicious food, and dance to great music all day long. Admission is FREE!
Start with the FUN… at 9:00 a.m. in the vineyard where everyone is invited to join with neighbors, friends and family in hand-picking our Lake Effect Vineyard® grapes. At noon, those who picked will enjoy a complimentary brunch accompanied by Colloca Wines as a thank you for taking part in this year's harvest.
Wine tastings and food will be offered for sale all afternoon, with the Tasting Room open from 11 am to 6 pm, and the WINE BAR and Wood Fired Kitchen open until midnight.
Our Food and Wine tent will be set up outside offering all of our wines including our Double Gold Award-Winning Rieslings and 10 other Award-Winning Wines and Cider by the glass.
The music starts with the Tom Barnes Band at 1:00 p.m. and going till 5:00. Then, dance the night away with the Chuck Shiele Band performing from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
The Grape Pie Eating Contest will have 3 Divisions:
- Kids (12 and under),
- Kids (over 12)
- Adults.(21 and over).
In both Kids' divisions, contestants will be timed in eating a piece of Grape Pie without using their hands, and in the Adult Division, contestants will be timed in eating a whole grape pie. Prizes will be awarded in the divisions including a bottle of Colloca Wine to the winner of the Adult Division. To enter, please call the Tasting Room at 315.947.2069 .
