Write a commentThe Oswego High School Music Department’s production of “Sweeney Todd” has been nominated for a total of nine Syracuse High School Theatre Awards in a variety of acting, production and design categories.
Running on Feb. 9 and 10, the macabre comedy/thriller set in Victorian London chilled and delighted audiences at the Robinson-Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts under the direction of Garrett Heater and musical director Robert Dumas.
“This was an exceptionally challenging show to perform and we could not be prouder of our outstanding actors, stage crew and OHS Music Department community who helped make this possible,” said Heater.
Nominations include Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical, Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble/Chorus and Outstanding Stage Crew.
OHS Seniors Nolan Callahan and Leah Mullen were nominated for as Outstanding Actor and Actress, respectively, for their roles as Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett. Freshman Matthew Caraccioli has been tabbed in the “Rising Star” category.
Heater and Dumas received nominations for Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Music Direction, respectively.
“God That’s Good,” an ode to Mrs. Lovett’s meat pies, was nominated as Outstanding Production Number.
The awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m., June 3 at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse.
