     Hard at work in his office at 849 Middle Road, Chris Wright is taking calls and making appointments to repair his customers' broken glass – he is "the Glass Doctor."

     A Fulton native, Wright opened Glass Doctor a year ago. Glass Doctor is a national franchise that offers glass repair service at more than 300 locations in the United States and Canada. There are now more than 175 Glass Doctor franchise owners across the United States, including Wright.
     "We fix anything in the home, including tabletops and mirrors," Wright said. "Basically anything with a glass surface."
     Wright travels to his customer's home to repair any broken glass surface. He also fixes any glass problems on automobiles, including windshields and passenger windows.
     Before Wright established a branch of Glass Doctor in Oswego, he worked in the glass business for about 25 years until he was laid off.
     "I can only imagine I got laid off because of my age," he said.
     The prompted Wright to establish a Glass Doctor branch of his own and it is now a successful business for Wright.
     Apart from taking down his appointments and managing his office, Wright also does the glass repairing on his own. He packs up a Glass Doctor van and visits his customers' homes, ready to fix any broken glass surface.
     "It's pretty hard to pack up a house and bring it here," he said with a laugh. "I go to all of my customers' homes."
     He said that sometimes customers do bring their cars to his shop to fix cracked glass.
     "I have a garage out back," he said, pointing toward the back door of his office. "It's easier to work on the cars in there because it shields out any wind or rain."
     Wright has worked on glass counter tops, windows, glass on automobiles and glass doors. And if customers do not have the means to pay right away, Wright does offer a credit payment plan, but customers need to go through a credit check if they want that option.
     Wright said he usually does next-day service and his services are not limited to Oswego, but he will also travel from Pulaski to Skaneateles. He said his customers are very important to him and he will do as much as possible to help them.
     "It's not about the money, it's about helping people," Wright said.
