Cloth diapers have come a long way in the past 10 years, and The Great Cloth Diaper Change event serves to raise awareness of cloth diapering and create some added buzz and excitement, too.
To do this, several people in the cloth diapering movement, Mother Earth Baby, have joined forces with the nonprofit Real Diaper Association to participate in the third annual Great Cloth Diaper Change international event taking place two days before Earth Day, Saturday, April 20, 2013. The Great Cloth Diaper Change will take place in conjunction with Oswego's first-ever Healthy Baby Expo.
To date, 285 hosts have registered to hold world record events in 17 countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Chile, Germany, Spain, Finland, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Mexico, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and the US. The combined sites are already on their way to attempt to break last year's Guinness World Record™ of 8,251 cloth diapers changed simultaneously at 189 locations in 11 countries.

What: "The Great Cloth Diaper Change" Oswego NY site event hosted by Mother Earth Baby. Guinness World Record™ requires each Great Diaper Change site to have a minimum of 25 participants in order to count towards breaking the current world record. In Oswego and the surrounding communities, there are currently 42 babies registered and it is anticipated there will be at least 50 babies who will get "changed " at the event on April 20.
When: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 20.
Where: Oswego YMCA Armory
Why: Each year, billions of disposable diapers enter landfills where it will take hundreds of years for them to decompose. The Great Cloth Diaper Change is an eye-opening experience for thousands of modern parents who choose to use a more planet-friendly alternative or those who deserve to know about their eco-friendly diapering options. Add to this, the fact that cloth diapering also saves cash-strapped families a substantial amount of money too, especially during these tough economic times.
Visuals: Great visuals will be available, such as babies in beautiful diapers, local Earth-loving moms and dads, and colorful cloth diapers galore. Come capture all of the excitement as we attempt to break the Guinness World Record™ of most number of diapers changed simultaneously. This event is held in conjunction with the first ever Healthy Baby Expo that will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a family-oriented, free event that will feature fun activities, educational information and a vendor fair for future and new parents, grandparents, and infant caregivers. Participants will find much-needed information about infant safety, healthy nutrition, baby massage, baby basics, breast feeding, car seat safety, and more! More than 30 vendors will present in addition to "Howler" from New Country 96.7FM.
