     Thomas E. Joyce, 78, of Oswego, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services, Inc.

     He was born in Oswego on March 26, 1935 and was a son of the late Thomas and Irene Henderson Joyce.
     He was educated in Oswego schools and graduated from the Oswego High School in 1953.
     Mr. Joyce married Mary Agnes Wallace in 1960 and they lived together in Oswego for 53 years, raising four children and eight grandchildren.
     He was a Niagara Mohawk employee for 36 years until he retired in 1994.
     Thomas was an active communicant of Saint Mary's Church. He was a member of the Oswego Elk's Lodge, American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
     He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-56.
     He was past president of the U.E.A and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He served as recording secretary of the I.B.E.W. Local 478 for more than 27 years. His favorite pastime was playing golf and he enjoyed spending the winters in Myrtle Beach with his wife. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and watching sports and school activities that his grandchildren participated in.
     Mr. Joyce is survived by his wife Mary Agnes (Wallace) Joyce; four children, Michael (Ellen) Joyce, Kathleen (Raymond) Place and Karen (Mark) Lazzaro, all of Oswego, and Thomas W. (Adrienne) Joyce, of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Thomas Place, Mikayla Place, Anthony Lazzaro, Andrew Lazzaro, Erika Lazzaro, Sean Joyce, Carolyn Joyce and Colin Joyce; one step-grandchild, Brandon Foster; two step-great-grandchildren, Zachary Foster and Nicholas Foster; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
     He was predeceased by two sisters, Edna Hanlon and Catherine Gibson; and one brother, Robert Joyce.
     Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, June 27, from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral home and at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's Church.
     Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
     Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., in Oswego.
