Write a commentSupporters of the United Way of Greater Oswego County filled St. Joseph’s Parish Center in Oswego as the community came together to enjoy a delicious meal of soup, salad, rolls and dessert at United Way’s “Stone Soup” Luncheon. The annual event serves as a fundraiser for food pantries in Oswego County.
"According to Lois Luber, resource development director with Our Stone Soup Luncheon was a great success. We raised $1469 and collected many bins of food for our local food pantries. I want to thank the community members who attended, and our many caring sponsors who donated the food for our luncheon: Canale's Restaurant, Vona's Restaurant, Oswego Country Club, Bridie Manor, and Ruby Tuesday for providing our soups; Dunkin' Donuts for the 'Boxes of Joe'; C's Farms & Davis Bros. for our salad fixings; Paul's Big M who provided bottled water; Bosco & Geers who provided the rolls; and Cakes Galore, NY PENN Pathways Girl Scouts and The American Foundry for donating our delicious desserts. Additionally, Giovanni's Foods donated 7 cases of spaghetti sauce to support the food drive. Key Bank Oswego provided door prizes.
"I would also like to thank the St. Joseph's Parish for hosting the event; the Oswego Lions Club for their donation of $500; the Oswego Rotary Club for their donation of $250; Oswego Health, Oswego Rotary Club, and Vanguard Research & Title Services, Inc., Oswego County Clerks Office, for hosting food drives; and of course our hard working volunteers and committee members, who helped to make our Stone Soup Luncheon a success," added Luber.
All proceeds from the event, as well as the food that is collected, will be donated to local food pantries including Human Concerns Center, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, and Salvation Army of Oswego County.
