"How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!" - - Maya Angelou
The USOswego event, a tribute to our Oswego County veterans, was created with that beautiful thought in mind! This latest annual event, a USO-style show covering the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's; comes complete with dinner and a little dancing... all of the ingredients that will make for a nostalgic evening tailor-made to celebrate our local vets!
Auditions for entertainment will be held at The American Foundry on Wednesday, September 16th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm courtesy of Theatre Du Jour. Actors, singers, dancers and entertainers at large are all encouraged to come out and audition for one or more of the songs (karaoke accompaniment provided) from the decades available (1940 – 1970 – song list available online). If you're not interested in singing, you can read for a comedy sketch which will be provided to you.
“It is an amazing opportunity to showcase the vast local talent we have right here in the community as well as the collaborative opportunities available with other Central New York artists. We are coming together to honor these dedicated human beings with an evening that spans many decades of times... good, bad and challenging... capturing the human spirit in all it’s glory”, said Tammy Wilkinson, Artistic Director of Theatre Du Jour.
Those who cannot make the audition date are encouraged to send a video audition to dujourcasting@gmail.com.
The USOswego event will be brought to you by IHeartOswego, Theatre Du Jour, Push Play Productions, King Arthur Suites & On The Porch Radio. USOswego is the brainchild of local friends of the community Victoria Usherwood Gailinas and Jennifer Gordon and will be held in early November. More details are available at www.USOswego.com.
