Write a commentThe second annual USOswego event, consisting of a free-for-veterans breakfast and a free-for-veterans dinner show, was held on Veterans Day, 2016. As a result of the donated efforts and fundraising for that event, a cash donation to Clear Path for Veterans was made possible.
"This year, we were able to surpass our own expectations and had a SOLD OUT event." said Jenny Gordon co-founder and the director of the USO-style show, held on November 11th, Veterans Day. "We worked hard for the success of this event and have much of the Oswego community to thank, for supporting our efforts and Oswego County Veterans."
"We need to thank Judy Reidy and the Oswego Alliance Church for organizing the free breakfast to Veterans (a part of the USOswego event). We served over 200 Veterans between the breakfast and the dinner show, for FREE!" said Victoria Usherwood Gailinas co-founder & marketing director of USOswego and iHeartOswego.com. "We could not have done this event without the help of some very key people like Tammy Wilkinson of Theatre DuJour, our producer and Jenny Gordon of Jump, Jive & Explore, our director. "
"The actors we have in this area are incredible. We're lucky to have the talent we need, right here!" Gordon added, "and we are very grateful to all of our actors for so freely giving their time and efforts to USOswego and our Veterans."
USOswego is an annual event created to give thanks to local Veterans and Active Duty as well as to provide quality entertainment to Veterans and those that support our Veterans and Active Duty Personnel. The upcoming third year event, the 2017 USOswego Variety Show, will be held on Saturday, November 11th 2017, at the American Foundry. The annual USOswego Breakfast featuring Pure Maple Syrup by Red School House Maple Farms, will be held at Oswego Alliance Community Center on Thompson Rd in Oswego on Veteran's Day from 7a.m. to 11a.m. In addition, there will be a fund raising event "USOswego Comedy Hour" on August 18th.
