In recognition of Veterans Small Business Week, AmeriCU would like to present local veteran and entrepreneur, Patrick Kinane.

Meet Patrick Kinane, a native of Baldwinsville, NY, who served in both the United States Air Force and the New York Air National Guard from 1992-2004.</p.

A member of several Security Police and Security Forces Units, Kinane served in Support of Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield as well as Operation Enduring Freedom. He was deployed and stationed all around the world including Japan, Italy, Korea and numerous locations in the Middle East as well as within the United States.

In 2004, while assigned to the 174th Security Forces Squadron located at Hancock Air Base in Mattydale, New York, Kinane applied to and was hired to be a New York State Trooper and during his State Trooper career, was promoted to Investigator.

During his time as a Trooper, Kinane was deployed to NYC following the attacks there, as a result of 9/11. Over the years, he was deployed to many locations in New York State to assist with the well being and safety of the various communities.

In 2014, Kinane’s father-in-law (Navy Veteran Wally Haskell) passed away unexpectedly. Wally was the owner of Golden Sun Bus Service, a school bus company that provides transportation for the Fulton City School District. Wally’s wishes were for Kinane to run the business and take over as President of the company in the event of his passing. As a result, Kinane took over the daily operations of the company while still working as an Investigator for the State Police.

In 2015, Kinane retired from the State Police and began to work in a full-time capacity at the bus garage. During his time as President of Golden Sun Bus Service, Kinane has made many upgrades to facilities and equipment at the business and has been able to grow the business. Seeing that the bussing industry was changing and requiring additional training, Kinane formed a full time Training/Safety and Compliance office to oversee the additional measures. He also was able to remodel one of the on-site buildings into a classroom to assist in better educating his staff on safety procedures and policies.

Kinane has maintained a good relationship with the City of Fulton School District and is an active member of the community in Fulton. He also serves as a Rotarian for the Fulton Rotary Club and served as the club President during the 2018-2019 year. During that time, the club sponsored many events in the Fulton area and completed many projects aimed to enhance the community.
