The Chili Pepper Scavenger Hunt is set to kick off on Jan. 31 and run through Feb. 7 at local participating locations in Oswego as part of the 10th Annual Warm Up Oswego Festival.
Participants will receive a “passport” along with a map of the City of Oswego, which may be picked up at the iHeart Oswego office, 29 W. Seneca St. The “passport” contains the full list of the 42 participating locations (see the gallery below for a few of the participating businesses this year). There is a two-foot plush chili pepper at each location. Once it’s been spotted, the “passport” will be stamped, bringing the participant one step closer to the grand prize.
“The stamped passport becomes a 10 percent discount of a purchase at the participating store, although, restrictions may apply,” Warm Up Oswego committee member and co-founder of iHeart Oswego Victoria Usherwood Gailinas said. “Each store will also have additional offers which participants must see each store for additional details.”
A minimum of 21 stamps are needed to qualify for the grand prize, which is $250.
“There will be a random drawing from all completed entiries to determine the grand prize winner,” Gailinas said.
One of the participating locations is Stability Fitness, who is offering an additional, yet uplifting offer: donate $5 to the Sydney Terpening Fund and in exchange, receive a free class.
Terpening has been training and competing in speed skating since she was 10 years old. She is currently in eighth grade at the Oswego Middle School and has an eye on the 2018 Olympic Trials. The fund brings her one step closer to her achieving her dream of winning an Olympic medal.
