Students enrolled in the Welding Technology program at CiTi BOCES recently had the opportunity to visit EJ’s state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Schroeppel.
During their tour, students engaged with current EJ employees, including Plant Manager Tim McKernan, to gain insight into the industry.
Brian Heffron, Administrator of Workforce Development & Community Relations, remarked, “When Career Technical Education students visit local industry plants such as EJ USA, they connect their classroom learning to real-world opportunities in our communities. These experiences not only shape students' career interests but also allow our workforce to glimpse the next generation of talent in our county.”
This visit is part of a series of work-based learning opportunities provided to students in the Career Technical Education program at CiTi. EJ, a global leader in access solutions for infrastructure projects, operates a 71,300 square foot fabrication facility in Schroeppel, which opened in 2018.For more information on supporting Career Technical Education programs like Welding Technology in Oswego County, please contact Brian Heffron at 315.963.4264 or bheffron@citiboces.org, or visit www.CiTiboces.org
