The Golden Pumpkin Award Contest, a friendly battle developed by the fun folks at iHeart Oswego for the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival, between local businesses and eateries within Oswego County, prompted the creative use of pumpkin in the spirit of this year's CNY Great Pumpkin Festival.
There were many local businesses that participated in the 2014 Golden Pumpkin Contest, and all showed great effort and talent. The judging committee consisted of Crystal Thomas - Berkshire Hathaway CNY Realty, Jackie Thorpe - Oswego Fulton Chamber of Commerce, John Zanewych - Big John Sales as well as Chairman of the 2014 CNY Great Pumpkin Festival, Steve Wescott and Victoria Usherwood Gailinas of iHeartOswego.com & the iHeart Corp of Oswego.

The Golden Pumpkin Contest judges announced the winners on Sunday, October 5 on the second day of the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival. For the sweet category, Cidermoon Coffee took home the prize for its chocolate pumpkin brownie with pumpkin creme; for the savory category, The Cutting Board triumphed with its pumpkin flatbread.
Both of the young businesses will receive the well-deserved Golden Pumpkin Business Badge to proudly display on their website and social media pages.
The Pumpkin Fest brought the community and businesses together , young and old, for a weekend of fall-flavored fun. After the success of the 2014 Golden Pumpkin Contest, we can only hope for even more creative--and delicious--competition next year!
