What does a director do when a cast member has to drop out of a show while in rehearsal? Find a replacement.

That’s exactly what Oswego Players’ director Sherri Metz did when she cast Alyssa Otoski in the Neil Simon comedy “Fools” currently being staged in the Frances Marion Brown Theater.

Otoski is new to the Oswego Players, “Fools” being her first role with the organization. A native of Wolcott, NY, she is a 2015 graduate of SUNY Oswego with a double major in English and Theater. She has been involved in a number of productions over the years, including “Fahrenheit 451”, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, and “Arcadia.” This spring she returned to her high school alma mater, Red Creek High School to co-direct the school’s production of “A Midsummer Nights’ Dream.” This fall she will be seen in the Rochester Community Theater production of “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead”.

“Community theater is all about pulling together and having fun,” commented director Metz. “This has been fun,” said Otoski of her first role with the Players.

“Fools” will continue this weekend, Friday and Saturday, July 15, 16 at 8 pm and Sunday, July 17 at 2 pm. For reservations, contact the Oswego Players’ box office at 343-5138.
