iHeart Oswego presented the YMCA Skateboard facility with approximately $2000 in new equipment on Monday, July 2nd.

Eight brand new skateboards, two snow skates, helmets, wrist guards, knee pads, laces, skate shirts from companies like DGK, Girl, Blind and other well known brands were stacked outside the front of the YMCA indoor skate park. The park located on W. 2nd Street, next to Skip's Fish at Schuyler St.

“We can think of no better place for a donation of this kind, to land.” said Victoria Usherwood Gailinas of iHeart Oswego and founder of Oz Roller Girls (now Port City Roller Derby). “We hope this helps the community skaters stay safe while having fun this summer!”

Mike Lavner was enthusiastic about the windfall. “This is great!” said Lavner. “We certainly could use all of it, and we can't thank iHeart Oswego enough.”

The skate park is also experiencing a bit of trouble with the building as leaks have formed and have severely impacted a portion of the skate park equipment. If you would like to help the YMCA skate park, please send any donation to the Oswego YMCA or call Mike Lavner, Youth Center Director at (315)342-4870 or email at mike@oswegoymca.org

The skate park is open to all residents, Monday- Friday: 5PM- 8PM and Saturday- Sunday: 5PM- 8PM.
