In the spring of 2023 a group of Oswego friends who fished regularly in the Oswego River decided to help improve the outdoor experience by cleaning up along the river banks.

The small group was able to gather a significant amount of trash, and thought they would ask for help from others to do more in 2024. Several local merchants donated merchandise for prizes to encourage people to participate. The results were dramatic.

"Over the past two years, our incredible volunteers have helped us remove over 1,500 pounds of trash from the Oswego River and surrounding areas," said event organizer Jeremy Sawyer. "This year, we're aiming to make an even bigger impact — and we need your help."

The 3rd annual Oswego River Cleanup Day has been set for Saturday May 17, 2025, and the hope is to exceed last year's total. Jeremy's business, Sawyer's Appliance Repair, Tirrell Appliances, and RTB Bait & Tackle are back on board as sponsors. Organizers are hoping more businesses will hop on board.

"We're currently looking for additional sponsors for the event," said Sawyer. "By partnering with us, you'll be helping to keep our community clean, protect local wildlife, and promote environmental responsibility."

If you're interested in becoming a sponsor or would like more information, please contact Jeremy at (315) 720-9948 or at SawyersApplianceRepair@gmail.com.
